Edge is the culprit Link to heading
OK, so I have been using a mini pc that is equipped with Ryzen 7735HS processor running Ubuntu as my desktop PC. Because I love BingChat, I have recently transitioned to Edge browser. Recently, I have too often experienced a short delay, freeze, and unresponsiveness with my computer, and I was suspicious with the recent Ubuntu version update / Linux kernel update I applied. I tried restarting the system, but it didn’t help. I monitored running processes but didn’t find anything that peaks in CPU or memory usage.
Well, my apology for doubting our good old Ubuntu/Linux. The real culprit was the Edge browser — though the culprit feature is probably coming from Chrome. As soon as I turned off hardware acceleration feature, everything ran as smooth as it should. No more freezes or unresponsiveness.

So, if you are also running Edge/Chrome and experience noticeable freezes, try turning this feature off. Also, I am curious to know if this problem is only specific to Ryzen APUs or not, so feel free to share your experience too!
